Kalbarri ROCK LOBSTER FEST - Our Story
The Kalbarri Rock Lobster Fest aka Kalbarri Canoe and Cray Carnival was formed in 2006 by Alison Duke, Ron Allen, Anthony Allen and Ellen Nightingale to highlight the town and it's natural assets (The Murchison River & Cray Fishing) and also to attract visitors to Kalbarri during the low season.
This event was run very successfully from 2006 until 2015 due to lack of committee members.
In 2016 we landed back on our feet with a new fresh group happy, willing, able and excited to get this event back to it's former glory.
2017 had an extended Parade around the whole town and music on the foreshore.
2018 was 2 nights of music on the foreshore and heaps of free family activities and entertainment.
2019 seen 2 days and nights of music, heaps of free family activities and fireworks
2019/2020 was the big controversial name change to
KALBARRI ROCK LOBSTER FEST
This was because the vent was evolving into something much bigger
2020 festival committee now comprises of 28 excited locals.
We will see the Canoe Capers coming back, A Personal History Tent about Kalbarri's people
More music, more crayfish aka lobster freshly supplied from the boat and ???????
Kalbarri is a tourist town and thus we rely on attracting visitors so this is an important event that needs to keep it's mojo and become a definite annual event that visitors can plan their holidays around.
So we get very excited to present again this family friendly weekend to the local community and visitors.
Many crowd pleasers are held such as Princess Kyli Parade, Canoe Capers, Landlubber Games, Adventurethon Triathlon, Murchison River Dash. Other items are the Show & Shine parade, art competition & display, free children's activities, music & bar.
This is an annual community event, held every WA Day long weekend, that embraces participation, fun, challenges and promotes Kalbarri as a fun tourist destination.
It is THE Premier Iconic Event of the year for Kalbarri!
This can only happen with your help as part of the Kalbarri community, local and surrounding businesses. We are looking for ANY expressions of interest for participation and support be it in the form of a donation of money, goods, services or help in running any of the events and thus we request your form of donation to enable us to make this event happen for the benefit of our local community.
We will in turn mention you on Facebook, during and after the event via other media.
